Hi there people! As promised, here is the full tutorial on making pictures look old aka Lomo effect or the discoloured photo effect as seen in old photograph. So, pay attention!
Lomography Effect Using Adobe Photoshop CS3
First off, you have to open up the photo you want to have the effect on, on Photoshop.
Then go to the right hand panel where you see the layers panel, click on the picture's thumbnail and right click. Select Convert to Smart Object.
We start of by making the colours bleed. Now go to the top menu bar and under filter, select Gaussian Blur.
Do not worry if you picture looks blurry now. We'll fix it. Click OK.
Go back to the layers panel and you will see a sub-layer of the smart filter. Double click on the arrow bar icon.
It will then bring you to this window. Click on the drop down menu and select colour and click OK. Your picture will return to normal.
Go back to the layers panel and double click on the Gaussian Blur sub-layer.
A gaussian blur window will come up and the more number of pixels selected, the more the warmer colours will bleed, while the cooler colours will desature (grayscale).
0.1 pixels
35.5 pixels
95.5 pixels
250 pixels.
When you are happy with how your colours bleed, click OK.
Back to the layer panel, right click on the main layer of your picture and select rasterize layer.
Now go to the bottom of the layers panel and select the yin yang (black and white icon) and select curves.
The curve window will open and on channel, select red.
Adjust the curves by moving the nodes by just simply clicking and pulling them to the desired colour. Fo the middle node to appear just click on the middle of the line. Follow my curve if you like and your picture shall now appear with a red tinge.
Go to the channels drop down menu and select blue.
Adjust the curve as the picture or to your hearts content. The picture should have an old yellowed paper tinge.
Next up, go to the layers panel again and click on the yin yang icon again and select gradient.
The gradient window will appear.
Double click on the gradient drop down menu. Not the arrow but the colour gradient as where the cursor is on the picture. This is to select the gradient colour.
This window will pop up and double click on the bottom left node to select the colour. The colour which we will be using is black. Click OK when you are done.
Now, at the gradient window, select radial from the style drop down menu.
Also check the reverse box.
At the layers panel, click on the gradient layer and go to the drop down menu that says Normal as shown.
Select soft light.
The picture shouldn't be so dark now.
Go to the tools panel on the left hand side and select the brush icon. Make sure the brush size is circular and is size is around 10% of the picture.
Go to the bottom on the layers panel and select the sticky note icon and a new layer shall appear.
Go the colour swatch on the tools panel and select a yellowish orange colour. We are going to add light streaks so that it looks like because of the UV ray exposure, the picture have light fade.
Make sure the blank layer is selected and click on the top of the picture. You can follow how I painted on the shown picture.
Go to the filter option and select motion blur.
On the motion blur window, you can adjust which direction you want the light streaks to be. The lesser the pixels, the less the painted work on the top of the picture will spread and blur. I choose 999 pixels as it spreads far and blur most.
You can also adjust the intensity of the light streaks by simply going to the layers panel and while the blank layer is selected, click on the opacity drop down menu and adjust how intense you want your light streaks to be.
And there you have it. Your very own lomograph picture!
Enjoy Photoshopping and comment! Stay tuned for more Photoshop Turorials.
In the past, you've had to contact me to set your own custom domain. This is no longer the case - I've added a new page in the control panel (Settings > Set Custom Domain) which lets you set your own domain name. I've updated the documentation page with instructions on how to set-up your Tabulas to use a domain name.
This is the statue on top of my Secondary School. I never knew who it was. Not even after numeral internet research and asking some High Spirited Johannians of my batch. One thing's for sure is that it is not Jean-Baptiste de La Salle.

I think it could be St Mary since my school was a Missionary School? Also was a Catholic School.

Will teach you all that are interested in your own Polaroid pictures, step-by-step in my next post.
Right at this moment, I crave for a basic film making kit.
1. A HD Camcorder
2. A Shotgun Microphone
3. Boom Pole
4. Wirings
5. Mac
6. Final Cut Pro
7. Adobe After Effects
8. Tripod
9. Jib/Crane
10. Dolly wheels + Track
Optional
11. Crew
While reading about film production, something caught my attention. Always feed your crew. In relation to that, food must always be provided for the crew. Even if they are working for free. No budget movie sets have a trailer or a truck that follows them wherever they go to provide them with breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and supper. Snack carts are a must too! This is to ensure the crew have energy and well hydrated to carry on with their tasks.
This is how this path seduces me.
I am back to the days where the number 1 equals to me.
1 also means single.
Endulging into my geek world.
Sitting in my fortress.
Awaiting inspiration to enlighten me.
Gun shot wounds to the chest.
Entering the left ventricle.
Puncturing the support system
Pending a suitable donor.
There I lay motionless.
Feeling none.
Cold as winter.
Blank as a flash.
4 times is just too much.
Maybe the 5th will be an achievement.
And it stays that way.
Too soon he thinks.
Wonders if a little later was better.
Uttering is better than not uttering is a personal question.
The best years of my life is where reality stands proud.
Red, white and green are the only people I could really count on.
* This is a new rant! and its meaning is deep. Very very deep. I think only I will know how to relate to it.
Oh life.
